Kate! You should try (or look into) SLAM - Strong Like a Mother - by Ashley Nowe. It’s a program of Get Mom Strong. It needs some equipment but is geared toward home exercise, is challenging, and the subscription includes the weights program, Pilates, pre-natal, pregnancy, post-partum, and peri-menopause programs along with stretching programs and nutrition. You get SO much bang for your buck!! Ashley is awesome!!
Another shout out for SLAM! I have loved the workouts, but also greatly appreciate Ashley’s mindset and approach to building functional strength. She also just released Menovation (a separate app/program) that is geared toward perimenopause & menopause.
Kate, thank you. Good morning. Just want to say that ive been a personal trainer for 20 years and bought a Tonal 5 yrs ago a d LOVE it! One of the best purchases we've ever made. You will not regret it
I love this! It took me a long time to realize moving from program to program or type of fitness isn’t because I am lazy or can’t do it, but because of the season I’m in. There’s been gym seasons, Peloton seasons, marathon training seasons and fitness based app seasons. Every season was helping me build something new, every season has its perks and downfalls. I’m back at a gym and loving it, but also have the mindset that this is a season for the gym and when it doesn’t work I move to a new season. It’s all working toward my long term goal of being healthy and moving my body. Thank you for sharing your journey and showing everyone that you can move between programs!
Erin this is so kind!! and I think you are so right. I am guessing in the years to come when out school time changes my entire routine will change again. I hope to make it back to a gym someday. there's something so lovely about working out alongside others.
I also came here to recommend SLAM or her new program Menovation which is for women entering into perimenopause and menopause. Her workouts have been awesome and she has been so encouraging to lift weights and build muscle since women lose muscle as we age.
Love Lindsay with NML! I credit her pregnancy workout plans for not just my body, but my MIND being prepared to give birth in Feb. She made me feel like a rockstar and like delivering my daughter could be the best workout of my life.
I just started using NourishMoveLove this month and have been so happy with it! I'm doing the "30 day beginner" program because I'm getting back into working out. Lindsey is encouraging and the workouts are tough, but accessible!
It’s worth noting that if you don’t want/need a peloton bike or tread, the monthly subscription is super affordable at like $13/mo. I love the variety of classes as well as outdoor options. Tons of variety without needing major equipment.
Yes! No bike or tread here, I mainly do strength training and an occasional run or walk. I have a basic set of weights and a yoga mat that I roll out in the living room. The price point is spot on for me and well worth $13 a month!
I love my tonal and am in Charleston! We’ve had it for about a year and a half. It has 30ish minute workouts and shorter and longer options as well. It’s adding a Pilates band available in December which I’m excited to try.
Just wanted to give a shout out to Lindsey at nourish move love because she was such a saving grace to me during the early days of my ACL tear. She has a series of videos she did when she tore her meniscus that kept me moving - at least as much as I could - and helped encourage me that I was going to get better!
I also love peloton - and have to add Emma lovewell and Jess sims to the list of awesome instructors
You should check out Sydney Cummings (Royal Change Fitness)! She posts free workouts (right now it’s 5 per week) on YouTube. She mostly just uses free weights. Her workouts are amazing and FREE!
Love hearing what others have found in the home workout world! I have been using the Sweat app since before it was created (hey old school BBG pdfs!). Love the variety, flexibility and the women focused brand.
I use peloton, but don’t have a bike, treadmill, or rowing machine. If you don’t use the classes that pair with those machines and just use the app on your phone for the strength classes, runs, yoga, meditation, etc, it is only $129/yr so just over $10/month!
ok this is SOLID info! I have never known that bc I started with the bike. That could be a slid way for me to keep what I love. thank you so much, Lindsay!
I’ve been doing the future app.. Teri with no crumbs left suggested it. It’s good too.. first month free if you get a recommendation and then it’s $200/month. Very tailored to what you want and can do. If you want to try future let me know

Before dropping peloton you should try Rebecca Kennedys 5 dal split! I did it for 4 weeks and saw huge improvements in my strength.

Loved reading your reviews. Thanks! Wanted to share a recommendation…my SIL is an amazing trainer and has her own program. I’ve been following it for two years and I’m in the best shape of my life! Check her out at ErinSimms.com or on IG at https://www.instagram.com/erin_fortitudefitness?igsh=MTJzbHNraHRnbWRqdw==
totally agree on the 45 min thing!! it's so weird. a 45 min video feels SO different than 45 min at my own pace - way more inclined to do the latter!
