Also came here bc I was reading this and literally LOLd. So much of motherhood, and wifehood, and livelihood is hard, but then I realized that I'm not getting a Power Pap, and I suddenly feel lighter and happier. Images of a pressure washer and a speculum have melded in my brain, and I can't stop chuckling.
Highly recommend The Unselected Journals of Emma M Lion as a series to read! The audiobook version is wonderful (my library has it on the Libby app). Regency era read with plenty of humor, excellent imagery, and also very real themes of grief and love. I flew through them! My favorite series in a long, long time - and book 9 is supposed to come out some time this year!
I'm dragging out book 8 b/c I don't want it to end! I didn't know book 9 is coming so soon. Yay!! Our library has them on the Hoopla app! Immediate download!
If you like audiobooks, I can not recommend the series "The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion" enough. The narrator is FABULOUS! It's very Jane Austen/Bridget Jones/Emma coded and I love it so much. They vary in length from 3-12hrs of listening time, but I find myself dragging out the last 2hrs of book 8 because I don't want it to end!
Re: TV shows...my threshold for tension right before bed is ebbing as I age. I also love a 30min show! Recs: Brooklyn 99, Abbott Elementary, Starstruck (HBO romcom), Running Point, The Afterparty.
