My son and I just saw TWO giant pileated woodpeckers in our tree yesterday morning! We’re in WI so not super uncommon but so pretty with the contrast in color from all the white snow we got this past weekend!
We had the cutest "Ruby -crowned Kinglet" that was obsessed with his reflection on our windowsill and he would 'flex' [technical bird term i'm sure] his little crown up, it was so vibrant! That one was a first for me here.
As someone who would enjoy a 750 page book on the history of banking in America, thank you Nate for the Chernow rec. :) Not related to banking but to American history more generally, the new Ken Burns American Revolution documentary on PBS is great and it's free to stream via the app!

Awesome bird! They are big!!
Keep the fiction recommendations coming, Nate! I read Sea of Tranquility earlier this year and enjoyed it — and I thought Ministry of Time was fun.
Will do!!

Very cool! One our neighbors told me the same thing happened to him a few weeks ago! It kept pecking at his window while he was on conference calls!
How long should the brown butter ball cookies thaw out before baking?
i have not done this exact recipe but I think you can just bake from frozen!

Oh I didn’t know it was free! I will watch it! Big Ken Burns fan
Kate, I think those camellias are actually sasanquas.
Hi! I think these are camellia sasanqua, a type of camellia? But I am a naturalist in training so let me know if I am wrong! Thanks!!
