Things We Devoured
Jess made The Wholesome Dish's Shepherd's Pie this week and remembered why it's such a staple comfort food. Mashed potatoes. On top of meat and veggies. The ultimate trio. She may or may not have added pie crust on the bottom for some extra comfort. She doubled the recipe and made one for the freezer to enjoy postpartum.
Nate read both of Ted Chiang's short story collections: “Stories of Your Life and Others” and “Exhalation”. He loved them. Chiang explores topics like time, memory, religion, free will, and others using little “what-if” universes. One story is about a man climbing the Tower of Babel; another on what if you had the ability to jump forward or back in time 20 years to talk to yourself; one was the basis for the Oscar winner movie “Arrival.” Highly recommend if you like science.
In Case You Missed It
Kate shared details on the entryway to her home. This “hall tree” shelf has been used for 6 years, is super sturdy and holds a ton. This storage cube organizer, similar to the exact one she has, has been great for kids' shoe and coat organization. These are almost identical to the storage cubes she uses.
Kate made a Greek meal on the blackstone and it was a winner. She used her “greekish crockpot chicken” recipe as a marinade instead of in the crockpot and paired it with grilled peppers and onions, tomatoes, feta, brown rice, store bought tzatziki, and trader joe's frozen garlic naan.
The exfoliating powder duo: This face scrub and this body scrub.
