Power Nap #22
Funny and thought-provoking media from Kate and her team for a quick, refreshing pick-me-up.
Website Refresh In Progress!
We have some very exciting updates happening to NaptimeKitchen.com this week! What this means for you is that you might go to the main site and see an “Under Construction” notice of some kind. Have no fear! It should be back to normal by Friday if not before, and as the recipes are converting over they are available in real time. That means if you are looking for a specific recipe, google “Naptime Kitchen (insert recipe)” and that recipe should still be able to be found; it's just not searchable/accessible from the main site until the new page is up and running. Thank you for your patience; this has been a major behind the scenes project I am so excited for!
Things We Found Interesting
The psychology behind Rock-Paper-Scissors. As a co-founder of the RPS Club in high school, Nate has been making this argument for a long time: It's a skill game. h/t to The Browser
The man who broke bowling. Jason Belmonte has been dominating professional bowling. Why is that news? He bowls two-handed (aka granny style). h/t to Abnormal Returns
A tweet thread showing AI capturing what historical figures would look like if they were modern people. Here is one:
"Just because improvements aren't visible doesn't mean they aren't happening. You're not going to see the number change each time you step on the scale. You're not going to finish a chapter each time you sit down to write. Early wins come easy. Lasting wins require a lifestyle." - James Clear
The Kid's Zone is a special Summer installment for The Power Nap. We hope this helps parents survive the dog days of summer with a full house! These were all submitted to Kate on Instagram by her followers. If you have suggestions, email them to us.
Things We Devoured
Nate finished the ninth and final season of Endeavor. It's a PBS Masterpiece show, but the first eight seasons are available on Amazon Prime Video. He loved it. I mean really loved it. His second favorite show of all time (second only to The West Wing). It follows Endeavor Morse, a “flinty, hard-drinking, arrogant-yet-lovable detective” in Oxford in the 1960s and 70s. Each episode is a self-contained mystery, but the real genius of the show is the plot lines that follow between episodes and seasons. Like all great shows, you come to love all the side characters. It's actually a prequel to another British show, “Inspector Morse," which aired from 1987 through 2000. 10/10.
