Power Nap #23
Funny and thought-provoking media from Kate and her team for a quick, refreshing pick-me-up.
In Case You Missed It
1. NAPTIMEKITCHEN.COM has a new look! We are still working out a few kinks, so if you find any broken links or other errors please let us know!
2. Kate is back on the Gram after taking a break from social media during July! She talked about her “holy grail” for fighting pimples, her new favorite cook book, and the kids' cups she uses that stick to the front of the fridge.
3. She also posted some photo highlights from July here and here (these links take you to Instagram since these weren't posted anywhere else).

Things we found…well….hot
The world. July was the hottest month on record, ever. Phoenix experienced an unprecedented 31 consecutive days of temperatures surpassing 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Beijing recorded 27 days of 95°F+ temperatures. Europe was under a “heat-dome." Iran had a day at 152°F, which is close to the threshold where humans cannot survive. h/t to Chartr. P.S., in case you were wondering why they call them the “dog days" of summer: “When Sirius would appear in the sky just before the sun, near the end of July, that marked the beginning of the very hottest days of the year. The Romans referred to this period as ‘dies caniculares’ or ‘days of the dog star,’ which was eventually translated as just ‘dog days.’”
"Know how to leave things alone, for if knowing how to refuse is one of life's great lessons, an even greater one is knowing how to say no to yourself, to important people, and in business. There are non-essential activities, moths of precious time, and it's worse to take an interest in irrelevant things than to do nothing at all." - Baltasar Gracian

The Kid's Zone is a special Summer installment for The Power Nap. We hope this helps parents survive the dog days of summer with a full house! These were all submitted to Kate on Instagram by her followers. If you have suggestions, email them to us.
Things We Devoured
Kate absolutely LOVED the Barbie movie! It was not what I expected in all the best ways. Y'all…it's deep! And it will make you love Margot Robbie so very much. Don't even get me started on Ryan Gosling…the most perfect cast for Ken. I wouldn't take kids, not because it's inappropriate but more so just adult humor and concepts they would likely not get or find boring. Anyways, go see it with your girlfriends and be prepared to laugh a lot.
