In Case You Missed It
Kate got a new band for her apple watch in a warmer color for Fall (color is A-brown). She had the milk tea color for years and it finally bit the dust.
Kate cleaned her outdoor couch cushions last weekend (her method for cleaning is detailed here). This set is super old from Costco and lives on her screened in porch. She recently got another outdoor patio set that requires no couch cushion babysitting and she's obsessed.
Kate has been sharing some freezer tips. Here is how she freezes pesto she gets from Costco to stretch it's lifespan over a ton of meals.

Kate and Nate are in Banff area celebrating their 10 year anniversary. So far the trip staples include this hiking backpack the folds up into a tiny pouch, these slippers, a travel pill case, and the heating pad Kate doesn't go anywhere without. This is what Kate wore on their big hiking day.

The good news: They are turning A Gentleman in Moscow (one of Nate's favorite books) into a mini-series, with Ewan McGregor playing the Count! The bad news: The December 2023 release date is likely to be delayed due to the Hollywood strikes. Whomp whomp.
This is a fascinating article on how animals navigate (it's the New Yorker, which is usually paywalled, but I think this one is open to all since it's older). (h/t to Marginal Revolution). Everything from birds to ants to lobsters to cats are incredible navigators, and yet we have very little idea how they do it. “[T]o to have a sense of direction, a given species might also need to have, among other faculties, something like a compass, something like a map, a decent memory, the ability to keep track of time, and an information-rich awareness of its environment.” I suspect that in time we will find that animals are much more intelligent than we give them credit for.
