Power Nap #31
Funny and thought-provoking media from Kate and her team for a quick, refreshing pick-me-up.
In Case You Missed It
Kate brought back the Pumpkin Punchers from last year for pumpkin carving. This is the kit. Plus maybe this rubber mallet.
Have you ever made symphony brownies? You haven't lived if you've never tried them. Recipe is also on the blog.
Kate wrote about showering in the dark and why you should try it too.
Nate and JR got to see The Orioles in the playoffs. Kate wrote about the full circle moment here.
Kate shared two cheap and doable Halloween activities.

Things We Found Interesting
Thinking that in the Strickler household we may bring back this method of solving martial disputes from medieval Germany: the man had to fight with one arm tied behind his back while in a hole, and the woman could move freely within the arena but had to wear weighted clothing. Her weapon typically consisted of a sack filled with rocks, while the man was provided with three clubs. If he touched the side of the hole during combat, he had to forfeit one club. Couples usually had a month or two to settle their differences before the duel, which only occurred if they couldn't reach a compromise.
PRIME DAY DEALS
In honor of Prime Day happening today, here's Kate's Prime Day Pep Talk. As you browse all the sales today and tomorrow, remember that if you buy something you do not want or need (even if it's on good sale), you are not saving money!
I created a list with Prime Day Deals on my Amazon Shop - some items were on early sale yesterday and some items are rumored to go on sale soon if they are not currently. Browse them all here. I am including some items below I think are worth separately linking because the deals are so good! Note: these deals will ebb and flow so if you click the link and you don't think it's a good deal, the deal might be over.
Vitamix: This is the model Kate had and used for almost a decade! Here's a tutorial on how to use the Vitamix Kate previously shared. It's easy to clean with this quick wash method. Here's Kate's mid-morning smoothie she makes with the Vitamix.
Mighty Patch: the life hack for acne. It pulls all of the gunk out AND disguises a zit. That's a win-win.
Picasso Tiles: This is the 100 piece set. If you have a toddler or young kid they will love these. We've had them for years and every single one of Kate's kids enjoys them.
All-Clad Pots and Pans: If you're wanting stainless steel cookware, this is the best money can buy. Kate has slowly accumulated these pieces over the last decade but this set is on really good sale!
Bissell Carpet Cleaner: If you have pets, kids, or are just a human who spills stuff, this is a game changer.
Rubbermaid Brilliance Containers: THE BEST tupperware/food storage containers. The larger sets with scoops are on sale. This is Kate's favorite way to baking ingredients and pantry staples.
Toiletry Bag: Kate recently upgraded to this one in the pink color size medium. It holds a TON.
Kindle Paperwhite- checkout this video where Kate explains how to get free Library books sent directly to your Kindle.
The Kid's Paperwhite Kindle is also on sale and rumor has it that it has the exact same functionality as the adult version but it's automatically ad-free! This is what John Robert uses and he is flying through books.
Eufy Cordless Hand Vacuum: Kate got this to live in the car and it's great. Lightweight and can charge via USB.
Dish drying pad: This thing is magic how it absorbs water with the sandstone.
Weighted eye mask: If you struggle with headaches or pressure around your eyes, you need this.
Kate has a handful of athleisure gems she has found on Amazon that are all on sale. The beloved wide leg pants (they now come in tall!), beloved joggers, and leggings!
Crock-Pot: *I think this will likely go on sale tomorrow* This model is one quart bigger than the one Kate has but everything else is the same and it's the best! Kate has an entire section on the blog devoted to crockpot meals - that's how devoted she is.
Beats On Repeat
Many of you know Kate loves a good instrumental playlist. She has discovered Jazz for Autumn and LOVES it! Whoever makes these amazing Spotify playlists needs a raise. A whole Jazz playlist made just for this season?! It's smooth, calming, and perfect for a calm morning or cooking dinner.
