My Dad works for Palmer Luckey at Anduril. And Picture a Retired 3 star general showing up to work in his business attire. And Palmer showing up in his Hawaiian shirt 😂 and it makes my day. They are doing big things. And I love that he does it as himself in his flip flops.
I have the simple modern cup and recently got the Brumate Era 30 oz. It’s even better and worth the price since it is leakproof! (Just in case you need another cup 😁)
Actually - I love February. Nothing is amazing about the weather or anything for regular people but it’s sort of my family’s special month? Our wedding anniversary, also our dating anniversary and also our anniversary month for becoming RN’s. And we’ve often taken a nice trip during February (without the kids!) because it’s a low travel time. (Rome and Maui are beautiful this time of year). Anyways, we love February and not just because it’s Valentine’s month ❤️
February feels a lot less grim because it’s the month of my birthday, my dad’s birthday, and my son’s birthday. Bright spots to look forward to! We often go to a hot spring sometime in February…there are several places within a 2-hour drive, and it’s delightful when it’s cold and snowy.
That said, this February has had the most awful weather…it’s been tons of snow and below zero temps, and my birthday plans got ruined by the bad weather. So…yeah. Looking forward to spring, but half the time March is as bad as Feb around here so….🤷🏻♀️
Wanted to share a few Yosemite tips!! We went to Yosemite this past summer with our 5yo and 8mo (spent about a month staying just outside the park), and I highly recommend renting e-bikes and biking the valley. It was so much fun! We also really recommend the Hetch Hetchy hike (not in the valley)! It was gorgeous with bridges right under the water fall spray. (We were there in May/June and waterfalls were still going). Probably will find this tip in other places but you’ll need reservations. And I can’t recommend enough driving in early (the line will get INSANE later in the day, esp if trip is late June or after). Also, from the park entrance gates to the valley, you’re looking at a 45 min ish drive (we weren’t anticipating that). We all loved our time exploring Yosemite and around it! We were constantly marveling and in awe of God’s creation! Hope you all have the best time!!
Hi McKenzie! Jess here. I have truly loved it so much. My sister turned me on to it after baking with fresh milled flour for the last year, I finally made the jump. I have been baking something everyday and have been amazed at how good everything tastes, and how satisfying it is. I usually mill 5-6 cups of wheat berries at a time then store it in the fridge to use throughout the week, then repeat that when I run out of FM flour. It has to be used fresh, as you know. You could also freeze it after milling. Sometimes I use yeast, sometimes sourdough for the leavening agent. I mostly use hard white and soft white wheat berries. The best part is the whole grain has 40 of the 44 nutrients our bodies need and I feel so much better giving my kids bread, cookies, muffins, etc. knowing I am secretly giving them vitamins and minerals. Ha! And we have noticed a huge difference in energy levels, satiation, digestion.
I feel so seen!! Thank you!

Man I am so sorry for you birthday getting ruined. Darn you February! Here's to hoping March is more mild this year.
I had to download this app so I could comment- your last two powernaps have been AMAZING! Love this weird people section 🤯
Thanks for putting this together and sending it to our inboxes!
Thank you so much, Erin! It means so much to me. I am honored you downloaded substack to comment!
10 year old trips are the best! And Yosmite! I live about 50 mins from the park and you are going to have an absolutely wonderful time.
So cool that you live so close to Yosemite!
Nate, KK is superior. ESPECIALLY for glazed. Love the Car Pool last 3 transactions segment!
A man set in his ways. We had fun doing it!

Thank you so much Elli! Hope you love it!
Jess-I’ve been considering a grain mill! I’d love to know more about your experience with it and all the tips and recipes you want to share

Sue Becker's (queen of fresh milled grains) book has great recipes, I have this one: https://amzlink.to/az0UiG70S3sP6
and so does Kristin from Generation Acres Farm , I bought her ebook of FM recipes: https://www.instagram.com/generationacres.farm?igsh=MWczenB2MmlhdDU4OA==
I buy my wheat berries from Azure standard, a monthly co-op type food pick-up. They have great prices and the highest quality standards.
Feel free to email me if you want to nerd out together more about this! Jess@naptimekitchen.com
